Cardiac Arrest Education
The foundation of any good cardiac arrest resuscitation is to provide ongoing perfusion and oxygenation to the patient whilst the cause of the arrest is both established and treated. This can be achieved with standard ALS alone, or in the case of some refractory cardiac arrests, with ECPR. Irrespective of the modality, the goals remain the same. ECPR will not work without excellent ALS and meticulous attention to detail.
ECPR shines a light on cardiac arrest management both at an individual clinician level and a system level. Through engagement, this expensive intervention drives system improvement.
These resources provide the starting point for your ALS delivery and aim to enhance your understanding of:
- The physiology driving the cardiac arrest presentation
- The physiological principles behind recommended management strategies
- The impact individual patient variation has on the response to your treatment strategies
